GOP Rep Asks Trump the Epstein Question Everyone’s Thinking

    Published on

Of all the unhinged things Donald Trump could have done on Christmas Day—and there were many—perhaps the most revealing was his bizarre Truth Social message attacking “the many Sleazebags who loved Jeffrey Epstein.”

In it, the president congratulated himself for “dropping” the convicted sex offender “long before it was fashionable to do so.” The only problem? Congressman Thomas Massie wasn’t buying it—and neither was an Epstein survivor.

WHAT’S GOING ON: Massie, a Kentucky Republican and the sole GOP co-sponsor of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, found himself name-checked in Trump’s holiday meltdown as a “lowlife” for daring to support releasing all unclassified documents from DOJ investigations into Epstein.

Trump’s message warned that when names come out, “it is revealed that they are Democrats all” and “there will be a lot of explaining to do.”

Massie’s response was perfect: “So… I’ve teamed up with radical left democrats to expose… Democrats. This 4D chess is fun!”

Which raises the question: If Trump really did drop Epstein “long before it was fashionable,” why is he attacking the one Republican trying to release documents that would prove it?”

He followed up Friday by noting the absurdity of the situation: “Imagine celebrating a blessed Christmas with your family… suddenly phones alert everyone to the most powerful man in the world attacking you… for fulfilling his campaign promise to help victims!”

THE DETAILS: The Epstein Files Transparency Act would compel the DOJ to release every unclassified document from its Epstein investigations—something you’d think a president who claims to have “dropped” Epstein would enthusiastically support. (SURPRISE.)

Instead, Trump spent his holiday raging at the one Republican willing to sign on.

Meanwhile, Marijke Chartouni, who has said she was sexually abused by Epstein when she was 20 years old, offered a succinct response to Trump’s attempt to distance himself from his well-documented friendship with the convicted sex trafficker: “Every accusation is a confession. Cheers.”

OF COURSE: This is a man who reportedly had an intimate friendship with Epstein, once told New York Magazine that Epstein “likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side,” and has faced his own sexual assault allegations from over two dozen women. So naturally, he’s the one publicly congratulating himself for cutting ties with a predator.

BOTTOM LINE: When the only Republican willing to support transparency about Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes becomes the target of a presidential Christmas Day tirade—while an actual survivor calls the whole performance a confession—maybe it’s time to stop asking what Trump is hiding and start demanding the documents.

If Trump dropped Epstein so long ago and has nothing to hide, why is he having another meltdown over releasing the documents? The answer seems obvious.
