Bette Midler Remakes Classic Song to Shade Trump (And it’s a Banger)

    Published on

Bette Midler is 80 years old, has three Grammys, and just recorded a protest song that calls the President of the United States a pedophile protector.

The singer and actor released her own spin on Woody Guthrie’s 1944 anti-fascist anthem “All You Fascists Bound to Lose,” updated for 2026 with lyrics that go after Trump, ICE, and the entire Republican machine heading into the midterms.

“Trying to distract us from the Epstein files / You gas and beat and murder us, protectin’ pedophiles,” Midler sings. “You pervs are bound to lose.”

She’s not being subtle. She doesn’t need to be.

The track namechecks the violent immigration crackdown, the protests that erupted after ICE officers killed Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis, and the coming November elections. “We’ll battle ICE together until they cut and run / Just like in Minneapolis and when the midterms come,” she sings.

Another verse: “To hell with all the cowards who hide behind their masks / We’re gonna win the midterms, we’re coming for his ass! / He knows it too, that bastard’s bound to lose.”

The song isn’t just a recording — it’s a rallying cry. Midler has been organizing her fans to attend the No Kings marches set to take place nationwide on March 28. She reunited with Barbara Hershey, her co-star from the 1988 film Beaches, to remake one of the movie’s scenes for social media with the new protest song playing in the background.

“I hope you’ll sing it when you’re marching,” Midler says at the beginning of the video.

The No Kings marches have already proven they can turn people out. Over 100,000 people marched in Manhattan alone during the October 18, 2025 protest.

The Epstein lyrics are the ones that’ll stick. Trump appeared in multiple videos and photos with the dead billionaire financier from the 1980s to the early 2000s. Epstein himself alleged Trump was his closest friend for a decade. And Trump’s DOJ has kept under wraps more than three dozen pages of “files related to allegations that President Trump sexually abused a minor,” according to NPR.

That’s not Midler making things up. That’s the public record, set to music.

The White House responded exactly how you’d expect — by attacking the press for covering it. Spokesman Davis Ingle called the song “garbage” and asked, “How many times have the glue-sniffing interns at the Deranged Daily Beast listened to this garbage song?”

Ingle, 31, got his bachelor’s in communications and his MBA from Southeastern University, where his father, Kent Ingle, is president. The Florida-based school boasts that more than two-thirds of its students attend online or through extension courses at 200 “partner sites” that don’t have to be accredited.

So the guy calling journalists interns got his degrees from daddy’s unaccredited diploma mill. Cool.

Midler and Trump have been going at it for over a decade. She told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024 that “you cannot hand over the reins of government and the nuclear codes to someone who is as much of a flibbertigibbet as this guy.” Trump has called the three-time Grammy winner a “washed-up psycho.”

She doesn’t seem particularly washed up right now.

The timing matters. The GOP is staring down a real fight to keep the House, Trump’s support has stagnated among crucial demographics, and between the war in Iran, the affordability crisis, and a brutal immigration enforcement regime that’s gotten people killed, even the Senate is in play.

Midler chose Woody Guthrie’s song for a reason. Guthrie wrote it in 1944. The fascists he was singing about carried swastikas. The ones Midler is singing about carry congressional majorities.

Saturday, people march. Midler gave them a soundtrack.

The song’s chorus, borrowed from Guthrie and pointed directly at the White House: “You fascists are bound to lose.”
