Trump Caught Secretly Monitoring Epstein Reporter on Day He Was Arrested

    Published on

Trump’s Justice Department was secretly tracking a journalist’s flight information on the exact day Jeffrey Epstein was arrested—and we’re only finding out now because the records accidentally got swept into the Epstein file dump.

This is Nixon-level surveillance of the press, except instead of tapping phones about political opponents, Trump’s DOJ was monitoring the reporter who literally forced them to prosecute America’s most connected pedophile.

“The Trump admin secretly monitoring a journalist who was investigating Epstein right before Epstein’s ‘killed himself’ makes Watergate look like Nixon got caught jaywalking,” one user wrote on Threads.

WHAT’S GOING ON: Investigative journalist Julie K. Brown—whose Miami Herald series “Perversion of Justice” interviewed 80 Epstein victims and single-handedly reactivated the FBI investigation in 2018—discovered her American Airlines booking details from July 6, 2019 buried in the recently released Epstein files.

That’s the exact day federal agents arrested Epstein.

The document shows her full flight itinerary, including her maiden name, attached to a grand jury subpoena. “Why was the DOJ monitoring me?” Brown asked on social media, posting the redacted receipts.

WHY IT MATTERS: This isn’t some bureaucratic mix-up. The government doesn’t accidentally track journalists covering stories embarrassing to powerful people.

Brown’s reporting exposed how Epstein got a sweetheart plea deal in 2008—serving just 13 months in a minimum security facility where he was allowed to leave for “work” 12 hours a day—despite credible allegations he trafficked dozens of underage girls.

Her work forced Trump’s Justice Department to finally charge Epstein with sex trafficking of minors in July 2019.

Six weeks later, Epstein was dead in a New York jail under suspicious circumstances that remain “unexplained.”

OF COURSE: The DOJ has offered exactly zero explanation for why a journalist’s travel records ended up in their files. The Oversight Dems demanded answers.

Meanwhile, the Justice Department already missed the December 19 deadline to release all Epstein documents—claiming they suddenly discovered “over a million more documents” on Christmas Eve and need “a few more weeks” to review them. Sure. Nothing suspicious about slow-walking transparency on the most politically explosive case in modern American history while evidence of surveilling journalists leaks out.

BOTTOM LINE: When the government secretly tracks reporters doing their jobs—especially reporters exposing crimes by the rich and powerful—that’s authoritarianism with a paper trail.

Brown’s surveillance happened under Trump’s first DOJ. Epstein “committed suicide” six weeks later. And now Trump’s back in power, the same DOJ is stalling document releases while Rep. Thomas Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna prepare legal action against Attorney General Pam Bondi for non-compliance.

This isn’t ancient history. This is the blueprint.
