California Governor Gavin Newsom wants to name something after Donald Trump—specifically, a highway rest stop where people relieve themselves.
The Democratic governor and likely 2028 presidential contender unveiled a mock proposal on Wednesday to rename a Bay Area rest stop in Trump’s honor, complete with a doctored image showing gold-trimmed lettering—the tacky aesthetic Trump famously loves.
“DOZY DON’T FRAUD AND WASTE WILL FINALLY BE ADDRESSED,” Newsom wrote on Twitter, mimicking Trump’s trademark unhinged all-caps style.

The troll comes as Trump has been slapping his name on pretty much everything he can find. In his first year back in office, Trump has renamed the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, added his name to the U.S. Institute of Peace building, announced a “Trump class” of Navy battleships, launched a “TrumpRx” prescription drug portal, and promoted children’s investment accounts under “Trump Accounts.”
He’s also reportedly angling to put his name on Penn Station in New York and Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C.
The Florida House of Representatives voted this week to rename Palm Beach International Airport—conveniently located near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound—after the president.
Newsom’s rest stop gambit is the latest in what’s become a pattern of the governor using California’s platform to antagonize the Trump administration. The move signals Newsom is positioning himself as a leading Trump antagonist ahead of a likely presidential run.

Whether the rest stop renaming is actually under consideration or just a social media stunt is unclear. What’s clear is that Newsom understood exactly what he was doing: offering Trump the one thing he craves most—his name on something—in the most humiliating possible context.
