Attorney General Pam Bondi put on quite the performance during a congressional hearing Wednesday, angrily dodging questions about her department’s handling of Jeffrey Epstein files—and Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t buying any of it.
“This is the kind of woman who, if you lived next door to her, you’d move,” Kimmel said on his show. “You wouldn’t even argue with her. You’d just relocate and never go back to the block.”
WHAT’S GOING ON: Bondi appeared before the House Judiciary Committee and responded to questions about the Epstein files by attacking lawmakers and heaping praise on Donald Trump—whom she called the “most transparent president” in U.S. history. Kimmel’s audience jeered at that claim.
“That’s right,” Kimmel mockingly agreed, then delivered the punchline: “He’s so transparent, you had to black out his name like a thousand times.”
THE DETAILS: The Department of Justice was supposed to redact only the names of victims from the Epstein files. But lawmakers who’ve seen the uncensored versions say key names—including Trump’s—were also blacked out. When pressed about these redactions during the hearing, Bondi refused to address them, instead launching into combative exchanges with committee members.
Kimmel noted that Bondi’s theatrical deflections came amid reports that Trump had been complaining about her to his aides—which might explain why she seemed especially eager to perform loyalty.
BOTTOM LINE: Kimmel cut through all the noise and posed the only question that actually matters.
“This Department of Justice is hiding the names of people who are not victims. Why are they doing that?” he asked. “If they have nothing to hide, why are they hiding names? That’s it. That’s the only question anybody needs to ask.”
Of course, Bondi didn’t answer that question during her meltdown—and given the administration’s track record, don’t hold your breath waiting for one.
