Trump Demands Bizarre ‘Ceremony’ From World Leaders at Davos

    Published on

Donald Trump is so desperate to be the center of attention at the World Economic Forum in Davos that he’s demanding a special “ceremony” to celebrate his $1 billion “Board of Peace” grift—the one he just invited Vladimir Putin and a Belarusian dictator to join.

According to Bloomberg, the Trump administration is scrambling to organize a last-minute signing ceremony at the four-day global summit for his newly unveiled board, which was ostensibly created to guide Gaza’s post-war reconstruction but—surprise—doesn’t actually mention Gaza in its charter.

THE DETAILS: World leaders received what can only be described as spammy invitations over the weekend to join this “one of a kind” board, complete with a $1 billion permanent membership fee.

The invite list? Accused war criminal Vladimir Putin and Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko, both of whom seem pretty jazzed about the chance to rejoin the global stage.

European officials are reportedly “baffled” by the steep price tag and are already scrambling to change the board’s terms. Their main concern: Where exactly does that billion dollars go? An unnamed U.S. official claimed to the Associated Press that it would be used for rebuilding Gaza, but there appear to be zero guarantees backing that up.

Trump would serve as chair of the board, meaning all decision-making power would rest with a man currently threatening to seize control of Greenland.

OF COURSE: This push comes just hours after Trump openly admitted he no longer feels the need “to think purely of Peace” because he was snubbed for the Nobel Peace Prize. So naturally, his response is to demand a fake ceremony celebrating his commitment to peace in front of thousands of world leaders gathered to discuss “improving the state of the world.”

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, leading the U.S. delegation, is planning to take an “aggressive stance” to fend off European criticism and push Trump’s favorite talking point: that America is the “hottest” country in the world right now.

BUT BUT BUT: Not everyone is buying what Trump’s selling. French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk have already signaled they have no intention of joining the board. The White House did not respond to requests for comment on what the ceremony might actually entail.

European officials are also reportedly uneasy about Trump’s role as chair, given his current authoritarian wish list includes annexing Greenland and inviting war criminals into international peacekeeping bodies.

WHY IT MATTERS: The World Economic Forum is supposed to be about global cooperation and economic development. Trump is using it as a stage for his latest vanity project—one with a billion-dollar price tag, no clear accountability, and invitations extended to some of the world’s worst human rights abusers. This isn’t diplomacy. This is a man who got rejected for a peace prize demanding the world throw him a participation trophy anyway.
