Kimmel NAILS Why GOP Won’t Make Trump Testify on Epstein

    Published on

Jimmy Kimmel has a theory about why Donald Trump hasn’t been called to testify under oath about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, even as other prominent figures—including Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and now Attorney General Pam Bondi—have faced the congressional hot seat.

“If you’re wondering why Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and now Pam Bondi have to testify and Trump doesn’t, it’s because you can’t put Donald Trump under oath,” Kimmel said on Thursday night. “If he swears to tell the truth, that’s already perjury.”

The joke lands because it’s barely a joke. Trump’s name appears in the Epstein files so frequently that Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) says a search for “Don,” “Donald,” and “Trump” in the unredacted documents turned up more than one million results.

    That’s not a typo. A million.

Kimmel has been hammering this point for weeks, calling on people to refer to the documents as the “Trump-Epstein files” rather than just the “Epstein files”—a rebranding that reflects whose name keeps popping up in the evidence.

The contrast is stark: Bondi, Trump’s own attorney general, has just been subpoenaed to testify. Both Clintons have already appeared before investigators. But Trump? Nothing.

Republicans in Congress have shown zero interest in putting the president under oath about his well-documented friendship with Epstein, who died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Trump has long tried to distance himself from Epstein, despite years of public appearances together and Trump’s own 2002 quote to New York Magazine: “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

The files keep raising questions. Congressional Republicans keep not asking them—at least not to the one person whose answers might actually matter.
