AOC’s Brilliant Response to Donald Trump’s Review of Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show

    Published on

Donald Trump complained that he couldn’t understand Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show—performed entirely in Spanish by the Puerto Rican superstar—and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had the perfect response.

WHAT’S GOING ON: Trump took to Truth Social after Super Bowl LX to trash Bad Bunny’s performance, calling it “absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!” He wrote that the show “makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence.”

Then came the telling part: “Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.”

Translation: Trump is mad that a Spanish-language performance by one of the biggest artists on the planet was broadcast to American audiences.

“I barely know what Trump is saying half the time, so… I feel him,” AOC told a reporter when asked about the former president’s criticism.

OF COURSE: This is the same guy whose campaign ran a rally at Madison Square Garden where a comedian called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” just days before the 2024 election. Bad Bunny responded at the time by endorsing Kamala Harris. So Trump’s tantrum about the halftime show isn’t just cultural grievance—it’s personal.

Bad Bunny is a global superstar with billions of streams. His Super Bowl performance was a celebration of Puerto Rican culture on one of the biggest stages in the world. For Trump, that’s apparently “a slap in the face to our Country.”

WHY IT MATTERS: AOC’s quip did more than just land a punch—it exposed the absurdity of a man who rambles incoherently at rallies complaining that he couldn’t follow a musical performance. The former president, whose speeches regularly veer into bizarre tangents about sharks, Hannibal Lecter, and windmills causing cancer, is concerned about comprehension?

The response went viral almost immediately, with supporters celebrating AOC’s ability to turn Trump’s xenophobic whining into a self-own.

BOTTOM LINE: Puerto Rico is part of the United States. Spanish is spoken by over 40 million Americans. Bad Bunny’s halftime show was as American as it gets—Trump just can’t handle an America that doesn’t revolve around him.
