Trump Biographer: Trump Knows He’s in Deep Sh*t

    Published on

Donald Trump is privately telling White House aides that Republicans are “finished, finished, finished” if they lose the midterms—and he’s now desperate enough to create international distractions to save his political skin.

That’s according to Trump biographer Michael Wolff, who told the Inside Trump’s Head podcast that sources inside the White House say the 79-year-old president has a growing “sense” that things are “going wrong” for his administration.

And he’s been feeling it since last fall, when his approval rating on the economy tanked and Republicans lost races across the country.

THE DETAILS: According to Wolff, Trump has shown a rare moment of “almost self-awareness,” actually citing the problems dragging him down—primarily jobs.

The numbers back him up: Since Trump’s second term began, the economy has added just 49,000 jobs per month on average, compared to 168,000 per month in Biden’s final year. That’s the weakest job growth since the pandemic, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Prices keep climbing too, despite Trump’s promise to “end inflation.” Food prices saw their biggest spike since 2022 last month. The man who sold himself as the economic savior is watching his approval on the economy crater in real time.

Wolff says Trump is also feeling the heat from the “Epstein s–t” and viral ICE videos that have “everybody crying.” The president apparently fears Democrats will retake the House—and possibly the Senate—and put him “back in court.” His assessment of that scenario? “Won’t be pretty.”

OF COURSE: Trump’s solution to his political crisis isn’t policy. It’s spectacle. Wolff says Trump has been telling his team, “We need something for 2026, a stand-out thing for 2026… It has to be a whole new big deal. It has to play.”

Translation: He needs something that captures all the headlines so nobody’s talking about the economy, the deportation raids, or the Epstein documents. Enter the Greenland fixation, the Venezuela saber-rattling, the threats against allies.

When Trump first floated the Greenland idea, “everybody regarded this as a joke,” Wolff said. Chief of Staff Susie Wiles reportedly rolled her eyes and refused to entertain it. But the self-proclaimed “peace president” pushed ahead anyway, telling reporters the U.S. would acquire Greenland “one way or the other.”

BUT BUT BUT: The White House, as always, denies everything. Communications Director Steven Cheung called Wolff “a lying sack of s–t” who “routinely fabricates stories originating from his sick and warped imagination” due to “a severe and debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his peanut-sized brain.”

So, you know, a measured response from the adults in the room.

WHY IT MATTERS: If Wolff’s sources are accurate, we’re watching a president who knows he’s in deep trouble try to distract Americans with increasingly unhinged foreign policy gambits. The threats to invade allies and abduct foreign leaders aren’t random—they’re desperate attempts to change the subject from an economy that’s failing ordinary people.

The midterms are coming. Trump knows what’s at stake. And apparently, his strategy is pure chaos.
