About NOTICE News

It is no secret that our world today is broken. Right now, in our country, the so-called “greatest country in the world,” 140 million citizens—42%!—are either living in poverty or are one crisis away from financial ruin. Outside our man-made borders, 60% of people live on less than ten dollars a day. That number increases to 90% in Africa and in India. Meanwhile, the world’s richest are getting richer. Oxfam says the world’s five richest men have doubled their wealth since 2020, while five billion others have gotten poorer. The world’s seething anger at this growing inequality is bubbling over. In the absence of a true and effective alternative, more and more people are turning to anti-democratic, neo-fascist leaders on the far right.

But despite endless propaganda from those who have been so enriched by this immoral system of uber capitalism, the solution is not complicated. It is hard to enact, but not hard to understand. We must stop doing everything for profit—most urgently: healthcare, housing, and food. We must stop running everything as a business. We must resist those who want us to see each other as enemies, and start seeing each other as brothers and sisters. We must throw out the fundamental lies of capitalism: that for one person to prosper, another must suffer; that for one person to win, another must lose; that humans are driven by competition, not cooperation. We must realize, just as AIDS activist Larry Kramer once remarked, that we have everything required to save the world—except the will to do it. Only by recognizing our lack of will can we start to rebuild our world. As so often said in recovery programs, the first step to solving a problem is recognizing we have one.

NOTICE News aims to change that. We’re a news startup based in Brooklyn, New York, working to bring the truth to our audience. Founded by Emmy and Peabody-award winning media veterans, with a team of journalists and producers, NOTICE News has built a large following on social media, with over 600,000 subscribers on Snapchat and 175,000 followers on TikTok.
