Nearly 2 out of 3 Americans oppose Trump’s plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza

Nearly two out of three American voters oppose Donald Trump’s plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza and forcibly remove its Palestinian population, according to a new poll released Wednesday.

A Data for Progress poll found that 64% of voters reject Trump’s proposal to turn Gaza into the “Riviera of the Middle East,” a plan that would require the forced removal of nearly 1.8 million Palestinians. Opposition is especially strong among Democrats (85%) and Independents (63%), while Republicans remain divided, with 46% in support and 43% opposed.

The poll also found that majorities also oppose Trump’s proposal to expand the American empire by “taking over” Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal.

WHY IT MATTERS: This shows how the vast majority of Americans are against Trump’s neofascist impulses to expand the United States by forcibly subduing other, autonomous peoples and cultures.

THE DETAILS: Data for progress polled 1,201 likely voters on February 8-9 and release the polling results on Wednesday. A majority oppose Trump’s proposal for Gaza.

Majorities also oppose Trump’s plan to “takeover” Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal.

WHAT’S NEXT: Trump continues to tout his rpoposed war crime, but its unclear what if anything Trump can actually do to make his horrific nightmare a reality.
