DOGE staffer forced to resign over racist posts

A key Elon Musk crony has been forced to resign his position at DOGE after racist posts were discovered by the Wall Street Journal Thursday.

Mark Elez, a 25-year-old Musk goon who has access the Treasury Department’s central-payments system, resigned after the White House was asked about the posts by the Journal.

THE POSTS: According to the Journal, the posts were made through the summer and into fall of last year to a since-deleted social-media account that advocated racism and eugenics. They said things like:

  • “Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool.”
  • “You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity.”
  • According to the Journal, Elez appeared to have a special dislike for Indian software engineers. “Normalize Indian hate,” he wrote.
  • 99% of Indian H1Bs will be replaced by slightly smarter LLMs, they’re going back don’t worry guys,” referring to large language used in AI.

WHO IS MARK ELEZ? Elez was a key member of Musk’s DOGE project, and was one of only two people who was supposed to have access to the Treasury Department’s payment system.

  • He went Rutgers University, where he majored in computer science, before going on to work for Musk at SpaceX, including on its Starlink satellites, and X, where he focused on artificial intelligence.

WHY IT MATTERS: The Trump Administration has said that only “highly trained professionals” are part of DOGE. What exactly are they trained on?
