Far-right extremist beheads own father, posts video on YouTube

A man in Pennsylvania has been charged with beheading his father and showing his severed head in a YouTube video.

Justin Mohn was charged in a Bucks County court on Wednesday with first-degree murder, and was denied bail, according to the district attorney’s office.

Prosecutors said police went to the family’s home Tuesday evening after receiving a call from Mohn’s mother.

There they found his 68-year-old father Michael decapitated in a bathroom in a pool of blood, and a knife and machete in the bathtub.

After the killing, police said Mohn then posted a 14-minute video on YouTube during which he read from a script and flashed his father’s head.

CNN reported that the video, titled “Mohn’s Militia – Call to Arms for American Patriots,” was viewed more than 5,000 times before it was taken down.

In the video, NBC News reported that Mohn refers to his father, a federal government worker, as a traitor, and railed against the Biden administration, while describing himself as a militia leader.

Police took Mohn into custody hours later around 100 miles from the home.

The killing comes amid the most sustained spate of political violence in the United States since the 1970s, according to a Reuters investigation last year.

Among the 22 fatal incidents of political violence identified in the Reuters tally, at least 15 were attributed by police or prosecutors to assailants who expressed beliefs associated with the extreme right.
