TOP STORY
Protestors expertly troll J.D. Vance, ruin photo-op

Protestors expertly trolled “Vice President” J.D. Vance at Washington D.C.’s Union Station yesterday—interrupting what was supposed to be a perfectly planned photo op. Vance and Pete Hegseth were taking National Guardsmen who had been sent by Trump to “protect” the train station to lunch at Shake Shack.
But their plans were stymied by fearless protesters who should offer a masterclass in heckling. One particularly loud protestor can be heard on video saying, “oh look, it’s couch f*cker… go f*ck a couch, J.D. Vance! Go f*ck a couch!”
Asked why National Guardsmen were deployed to a train station instead of other parts of the city with actual crime problems, Vance said the station was being overrun with homeless people and visitors didn't feel safe.
This is classic conservative hypocrisy: a show of “force” that doesn’t actually do anything to help solve the problem.
Anybody who’s visited Union Station knows it’s overwhelmed by homeless people. Anybody with a heart knows that the answer to homelessness isn’t to treat the unhoused like criminals, but treat them like human beings with dignity.
Trump is spending up to $2.6 million per day on this National Guard troop deployment in D.C. Imagine if that money were spent on actually addressing the real causes of crime and homelessness, instead of cosplay for a small d*cked wanna-be dictator?
OH, AND: Evil bald f*ck Steven Miller, who was also on hand for the failed photo op, later denounced the protestors as “communists.” We’re already on their side, Stevie boy.

🗞️ Making News
Texas House passes GOP-gerrymandered maps
Texas Republicans forced through a redistricting bill that could hand them up to five new congressional seats, cementing minority rule by diluting the power of non-White voters. Democrats, some of whom slept on the House floor to protest being placed under police surveillance, decried the move as outright cheating and vowed to fight in court. The bill now heads to the state senate, where hopefully Democrats will put up more of a fight. Full story from CNN.
Israel escalates genocide, expands “settlements” as Gaza nears total collapse
Defying mounting global outrage, Israel approved thousands of new settlement units in the West Bank while preparing a full assault on Gaza City, moves that analysts say serve Netanyahu’s far-right coalition rather than peace. With over 60,000 Palestinians already killed and millions displaced, Israel’s war machine—backed by U.S. complicity—has pushed the dream of a Palestinian state closer to extinction while deepening a permanent cycle of occupation and bloodshed. Secret gay sex scandal rocks party of ‘traditional family values’
A Republican congressman engaged to a woman has been accused of secretly paying male escorts, the latest Republican legislator living a double life while legislating against LGBTQ rights. The revelations underscore the party’s long-running hypocrisy: railing against Queer people in public while indulging privately, a dynamic born of capitalism’s obsession with power, image, and control rather than honesty or liberation. Trump attacks Smithsonian for teaching the truth about Slavery
Donald Trump is once again threatening to strong-arm the Smithsonian, blasting it for focusing “too much” on the horrors of slavery and vowing to strip funding if it doesn’t fall in line. Civil rights advocates warn this is part of Trump’s broader campaign to rewrite history and erase America’s violent foundations in order to protect white supremacy and capitalist myth-making about “success” and “greatness.” Full story from Reuters.

🗳️ Yesterday’s poll results
Yesterday we asked, are Democrats doing enough to stand up to Trump?

Lama voted no and said, “The Democratic Party has continued to run moderates, and reject more progressive leaders. If they hadn't pushed Bernie Sanders out of the presidential races in favor of Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, we wouldn't be losing our democracy now. The DNC has been very short sighted and out of touch with the majority.”
Lawrence also voted no and said, “Where are our national Dem leaders? Schumer seems to have little to say about the continuing assaults on our government by these MAGAs. We need to get a majority back in Congress to stop or at least slow down drumpf and his evil minions!”
Badun also voted no and said, “I think Gavin Newsom and South Park have taken the right approach at this point. He doesn’t always know how to react except with anger. Some of his followers react by being all polite and not really meaning it. In some ways this is similar to Joe McCarthy’s attitude to Communism and California put up a good resistance at the time.”
